Derivative Works If you have a great idea for an RPG, instead of writing all the content from scratch, you can just make a supplement to Virtually Real

Legal License for Third Party Supplements.

I feel there should be no barriers to writing your own content for this system. If you are interested in using these rules for your next game idea, you would basically just write a setting book with your maps and descriptions, cultures, occupations, new playable species, monsters, spells, or new mechanics. Whatever you write, its your book, your stuff. No one is looking for royalties for work you create yourself because your work helps promote sales of the core book. Likewise, your game benefits from faster time to market because you don't have to design a whole system. If you want to include stuff from the core book or website as part of your world, feel free! You have license to do that, see the link on this page.

Feel free to contact me if there are issues with the licensing. I know Creative Commons or a similar license would be better from the stand-point of third-parties, because it's more familiar and obviously less restrictive. However, this would basically make the core book CC, and I do not want to give publishing rights away. I don't have a huge budget with 100 supplements to make money off of, so I have to charge for the core book.

You may not reproduce the core book or the community built settings or any named NPCs, but everything else in the database is fair game to be included in your own work, or feel free to just give a link or QR code to the website so they can always have the latest revisions and export the information to virtual table-tops! Artwork of creature likenesses may be used in your own work. Basically, I'd love to see what worlds you design with this system, just don't download the database and publish it as your own. If the settings designed here get published, it will be to support the cost of the server and my time developing the website so these tools can be made available. Downloadable PDF snapshots will eventually be on the radar for all the settings hosted here.

If you do decide to publish a setting for this system, let me know! I may have some ideas you can use and if I like your work, you can use the VR logo as an endorsement. But make sure you have a specific written approval before using the VR logo on anything as use of logos is not covered by the license!

Sincerely, The Upright Man
